Italy's 2008 grim housing market seen spilling over into 2009
Italy's housing market tallied grim figures for 2008, and more gloom is expected in 2009. The government body Agenzia del Territorio reported that in the third quarter, residential sales slid by 10.3% in the south of the country, 13.8% in the centre, and 16.1% in the north compared to same period in 2007. Credit-wary banks and more cautious consumers were the main causes.
