Airrail Center spaceship lands at Europe's busiest transport hub
Airrail Center, the massive office-hotel-retail edifice being developed at Frankfurt Airport by Germany's IVG and airport operator Fraport, is one of the largest commercial developments in western Europe. Often described as resembling a spaceship, Airrail is one of the main elements of Airport City arising at Europe's second busiest air travel hub after London's Heathrow. When completed in next spring, Airrail will offer 94,500 sq.m. of office space, 34,500 sq.m. of hotel space and 5,900 sq.m. retail and catering in an enclosed environment around an central daylight-lit courtyard. Hilton will offer a Hilton Hotel International and Hilton Garden Inn. "Thanks to its immediate proximity to three modes of transport, Airrail is networked with the Rhine-Main region, Germany, Europe and the world... This makes it a unique property," IVG CEO Gerhard Niesslein told the topping-out ceremony.
