German house price index rises in January
German house prices are showing signs of recovery following the steep falls last year, and in January were in aggregate just 0.8% below year-ago levels, according to the HPX index of the Berlin-based Hypoport group. The index was up 0.3% in January alone, its largest monthly increase in the last six months. (See upcoming PIE editions for full story)
