Architect Nouvel scraps plans for key La Défense tower
French architect Jean Nouvel has stopped plans to build the Signal Tower in La Défense after failing to attract investors, according to Joëlle Ceccaldi-Raynaud, president of the Paris business quarter's management company EPAD. Nouvel said he has not scrapped the project altogether but said investors are delaying. The Signal Tower may again become attractive in two or three years' time. The emblematic tower, due to be 300m high and cost nearly E580m, is no longer viable since the principle investor, Spain's Medea group, has pulled out. (See upcoming PIE Editions for full story)
