Sonae Sierra is an international shopping centre specialist, operating in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, Romania, Brazil and Colombia. It has over 2.2m sq.m. GLA under management with over 8.900 tenants, attracting in 2009 more than 436m visits. Sr. Fernandes joined in 1997 as Project Manager of NorteShopping, subsequently becoming the centre’s General Manager. In 2000, he was appointed Asset Manager for Portugal. In 2002 he added Greece and Romania to his portfolio. Since 2008, when he took up his present responsibilities, he has overseen all Sonae Sierra’s real estate investments in Portugal and Spain. He holds an MSc in Management from the University of Porto and an MBA from the Instituto Superior de Estudos Empresarias.
